Rylan Hamilton - Blue Water Autonomy
CEO and Co-Founder
Rylan started his career in the U.S. Navy as an engineering & surface warfare officer before pivoting into robotics after Harvard Business School. As an early leader at Amazon Robotics, he deployed thousands of industrial robots to warehouses around the country. When he saw a gap in the market, he founded 6 River Systems, a warehouse automation company that quickly commercialized the first collaborative, autonomous mobile robots for logistics. Rylan raised $45 million while growing 6 River, and sold it to Shopify for $450 million.

Scott Miller - Blue Water Autonomy
CTO & Co-Founder
Scott’s lifelong love of the ocean combines adventure and engineering. As a college student, he crossed the Atlantic aboard SEA’s 125’ schooner Westward, sailing through 30 foot seas. After graduation, he served as first mate on a 63’ sloop during a 7-month voyage from Rhode Island to Tahiti — experiences that forged a deep respect for the sea and shaped his career.Scott holds a Master’s in Ocean Engineering from MIT, where he helped develop a biomimetic robotic tuna and an advanced force-feedback system for marine cable research. He went on to design undersea ROVs at Deep Sea Systems and led development of a full-size walking dinosaur at Walt Disney Imagineering R&D.At iRobot, Scott was an early engineer and later VP of Engineering, helping launch Roomba and Scooba from prototype to 4M+ units and playing a key role in the company’s IPO. He then founded Dragon Innovation, scaling it into a global manufacturing platform supporting top hardware startups including Ring and Bose, and ultimately the acquisition by Avnet.

Austin Gray - Blue Water Autonomy
CSO & Co-Founder
Austin started his professional journey as a U.S. Navy intelligence officer. Based in Washington D.C. he helped modernize classified Navy technology, such as the first interactive tablets in the Pentagon. Next, Austin led the intelligence watch teams on aircraft carrier strike groups, where his team built and maintained the fleet’s top secret battle map and supported combat, diplomatic, and intelligence operations. Austin left active duty to complete masters degrees at MIT & Harvard, where he helped grow Boston’s nascent defense tech ecosystem. A day after graduating business school, Austin flew out to Ukraine and started volunteering in a drone factory, where he built supply chains and collected front-line feedback to support multiple products still used in combat today.
